1. Accepting These Terms When and how this agreement takes effect ▼
You accept these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy when you tick the box on the signup screen and tap Continue. If you do not accept them, do not use ALBO Taxi.

Who these terms are with

ALBO Taxi is operated by Albo Technology (AlboTech SARL) and currently serves Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Questions: support@albotaxi.com.

2. Your Account Eligibility and the responsibilities that come with an account ▼

Requirements

  • You must be at least 18 years old to hold an ALBO Taxi account.
  • Your phone number is your login. Keep access to it secure — anyone who can receive your SMS codes can reach your account.
  • Give your real full name. Your driver relies on it to identify you at pickup.
  • One account per person. Do not create accounts to claim referral rewards or bonuses you are not entitled to.
  • You may log out or permanently delete your account at any time from the bottom of the Account page.
3. What ALBO Taxi Is A marketplace connecting passengers with independent drivers ▼
ALBO Taxi connects you with a driver. It does not provide the transport itself.

Our role

  • Drivers on ALBO Taxi are independent. They are not employed by us, and we do not own or operate their vehicles.
  • We verify driver documents before approval and require a valid profile photo to go online, but the ride itself is performed by the driver you accept.
  • Both passengers and drivers rate each other after a trip, and those ratings are visible when offers are exchanged.
4. Booking and Pricing You propose a price; drivers respond with offers ▼
Nothing is charged when you send a request. Payment happens at the end of the ride, directly with your driver.

How a price is agreed

  1. The app suggests a fair starting price based on distance, time and the vehicle type you choose.
  2. You raise or lower that amount. What you send is your opening offer — a higher offer usually attracts a driver faster.
  3. Nearby drivers may accept your price, ignore it, or send a counter-offer. You may accept, ignore, or counter in return.
  4. Once you accept an offer, that price is the agreed fare for the trip.

The agreed price covers the whole trip, including up to two extra stops, in the order you added them. There is no additional charge per stop.

Request cards shown to drivers carry a countdown. If no driver responds, you can raise your offer, keep waiting, or cancel.

5. Payment Paid directly to your driver, never through the app ▼

How you pay

  • Pay in cash at the end of the trip, or by mobile money (M-Pesa, Airtel Money or Orange Money) to the number shown on your screen.
  • The screen always shows the exact Amount to pay the driver, already accounting for any Wallet discount applied when booking.
  • If you pay cash and are owed change, the driver may credit that amount to your Wallet instead of handing over coins. It appears as a Ride change credit.
  • ALBO Taxi does not process ride payments and does not accept card payments.
6. The Wallet, Bonuses and Referrals Credit for discounts — not a bank account ▼
Wallet credit cannot be withdrawn or turned into cash. It can only reduce what you pay on a ride.

Passenger Wallet

  • Your Wallet can cover up to 30% of any single ride. You always pay at least 70% yourself, in cash or mobile money.
  • Credit comes from referral rewards, the first-ride bonus, ride change and occasional promotions.
  • Passengers who sign up without a referral code receive 1,000 FC after their first completed ride.
  • Refer a friend and, once they complete their first ride, you receive 4,000 FC and they receive 2,000 FC.
  • The first-ride bonus and the referral reward do not stack. You receive whichever one applies to you.

Driver Wallet

  • A driver's Wallet is the account our platform commission is deducted from after each completed trip. It is not deducted from the fare you collect.
  • You must keep a sufficient balance. A very low or negative balance can temporarily prevent you from going online.
  • Top up by bank transfer, Airtel Money or M-Pesa, then upload proof of payment. Our team reviews it and credits your Wallet once approved. Orange Money top-ups are not yet available.
  • Invite another driver and, once they complete 10 rides, you receive 10,000 FC and they receive 5,000 FC. Drivers who signed up without a code instead receive a 2,500 FC welcome bonus after their 5th completed ride. A driver receives only one of the two.
7. Cancellation What happens when a trip is called off ▼

Cancelling

  • You can cancel a request and choose a reason. If no driver has been assigned yet, cancelling is free and instant.
  • Repeatedly cancelling accepted trips wastes drivers' time and may lead to action on your account under section 10.
8. Driving with ALBO Requirements that apply if you register as a driver ▼

Getting approved

  • Registration takes five steps: licence details, service category, vehicle details, documents, and submission for review.
  • Your driving licence must remain valid for at least 30 days from the day you register.
  • You must upload your driving licence, national ID, a selfie holding your ID, vehicle registration, transportation permit, insurance certificate and a profile photo.
  • Review normally takes 24 to 48 hours. If your application is declined you will see the reason and may fix it and submit again; a decline does not permanently block your account.

Service categories

  • Standard — everyday rides at the base price, with no air conditioning requirement and the highest ride volume.
  • Premium — requires working air conditioning, and pays 25% above the base price on premium requests.
  • Lady Driver — for women drivers, serving female-only or mixed requests, and paying 15% above standard.
  • Drivers in a higher-tier category may also accept standard requests. You can change category in Account → Service Category.

Staying online

  • A valid profile photo is required to go online. If your photo is removed or becomes invalid you will be taken offline until you upload a new one.
  • Keep your Wallet topped up, as described in section 6.
  • Follow the customer's stops in the order they added them, and finish the ride in the app so the fare and your rating are recorded correctly.
9. Safety Features What SOS does — and what it does not replace ▼
SOS is not a substitute for the emergency services. In a life-threatening situation, contact local emergency services directly.

How SOS works

  • SOS requires a deliberate 10-second press and hold, so it cannot fire from an accidental touch. Lifting your finger early cancels it with no alert sent.
  • When a passenger triggers SOS, their emergency contacts are alerted and live tracking begins.
  • When a driver triggers SOS, nearby online ALBO drivers are alerted as well, so help can physically reach them.
  • Set up at least one emergency contact in Account → Safety before you need it, so SOS has someone to alert.
  • Tap Mark as Safe once the situation is resolved to stop the alert and live tracking.
10. Acceptable Use and Termination Conduct we do not allow, and what happens if it occurs ▼

You must not

  • Use ALBO Taxi for anything unlawful, or to threaten, harass or endanger a driver or passenger.
  • Provide false identity or vehicle information, or upload documents that are not genuinely yours.
  • Abuse referral codes, bonuses or promotions, including by creating duplicate accounts.
  • Trigger SOS when there is no emergency.
  • Attempt to interfere with the app, or collect other users' information from it.

Consequences

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, and may take a driver offline where their documents, photo or Wallet balance no longer meet the requirements above.

11. Service Availability and Liability The limits of what we can promise ▼

Availability

  • ALBO Taxi currently operates in Kinshasa. Availability depends on drivers being online near you, and we cannot guarantee that a driver will accept any particular request.
  • The app depends on your device, your mobile network and location services. Features such as live tracking may be interrupted if those are unavailable.

Liability

Because the transport is provided by independent drivers, our responsibility relates to operating the platform — matching, pricing tools, the Wallet and safety features — rather than to the conduct of a trip itself. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under the law of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

12. Changes, Law and Contact How these terms may change and who to contact ▼

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed, and we will tell you in the app where a change is significant. Continuing to use ALBO Taxi after an update means you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
